director@click-for-success.org
Occupation: Consultant
Kim Kamen is the program director of Click-For-Success, one of the nation's most innovative approaches to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Kim's background is strongly rooted in both education and social service. She holds a master's degree in teaching (with an emphasis on K-8 education) and a bachelor's degree in psychology, both from the University of Virginia.
Kim first served as a bilingual classroom teacher in a severely economically disadvantaged area of Houston before moving to the Dallas area, where she stepped into the role of department head of the Bilingual and ESL (English as Second Language) Program for a middle school in the Plano Independent School District.
Though she loved being in the classroom, Kim's impact reached beyond the walls of the traditional classroom. She developed numerous programs for her students' parents and local community members, and it wasn't long before Kim felt compelled to make a positive impact with an even larger population. After five years in the school system, she transitioned into the world of social-service nonprofit organizations.
Kim served as a director of AmeriCorps (the domestic Peace Corps) before becoming executive director of Frisco Family Services Center. She successfully lead the only nonprofit social service organization in the nation's second-fastest growing city.
Shortly after giving birth to her first child, Kim decided to return to her roots. By linking up with the Forrest Outreach Foundation and the Click-For-Success Program, she has been able to bridge a tremendous social-service need (breaking the cycle of poverty) by providing those in need with quality education. With the technological know-how and skills learned through Click-For-Success, those benefiting from the program will be able to make a better life for themselves, their children and their community.
Kim is an accomplished grant writer, a nonprofit leader and published author. She has been highlighted in a number of publications, including The Dallas Morning News and Teachers With the Courage to Give. She has made a positive impact on and significantly strengthened numerous nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and museums at local, state and national levels.
